Below are some answers to frequently encountered problems. We hope you find them useful.
Q: What should I do if I think I have a
virus on my computer?
A: Contacting your IT support staff or vendor is the best approach
as soon as you suspect an infection. The infection can become worse
quickly. If it is just a suspicion, run a virus scan. If nothing is
found or after removing what is found you still suspect you are
infected, call for support immediately.
Q: What should I do if my computer locks
up?
A: If you are certain the computer is locked do the following. Press
cntl-alt-del and select task manager. On the applications task,
highlight and end any task that says "not responding". If this does
not correct the problem press and hold the power button on the
computer until it shuts down and restart. If you encounter a problem
after doing this call support immediately.
Q: Are there any maintenance tasks I
should perform on my computer myself?
A: Clean up of unneeded files, remove temporary files and cookies on
the Tools/Internet Options dialog box in Internet Explorer.
Defrag by going to My computer, right click C, go to properties, tools tab.
Removing unneeded programs by going to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
Perform these tasks yourself only if you are confident you can do it without removing anything in error. Otherwise, place a request with support for it to be done when they are onsite performing other tasks as well to reduce cost.
